Frequently asked questions
Is Play with Krypto a real crypto wallet?
No. It is an educational sandbox. Demo currencies, keys, and nearby ledgers exist only for learning how cryptography and consensus ideas work — not for real money.
Why does Play with Krypto ask for Local Network access?
Only for the optional “nearby friends” cryptocurrency experiment, so devices on the same local network can join a temporary learning session. You can ignore that feature entirely.
Where is my Play with Krypto data stored?
Lab work and saved recipes stay on your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
NightOwl Responders
Does NightOwl store my chat on a SubaByte server?
No. Message bodies are designed to travel phone-to-phone. We do not operate a NightOwl chat backend that holds your threads. iCloud is used only so devices can find peers online (“doorbell”), not to archive conversations. See the product page and privacy section.
Why does NightOwl require iCloud?
Peer discovery for internet P2P uses CloudKit. Chat content is not stored in iCloud. Sign in with Apple alone is not enough — iCloud must be enabled on the device.
How do I join a group?
An admin can invite you by email (join code) or scan your QR code in person. There is no public join directory.
How do tips and subscriptions work?
Optional Apple In-App Purchase tips or a small auto-renewable subscription fund the app. They unlock nothing. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings (or via Manage subscription in the app). Details are in our Terms of Use.
Is NightOwl an official NHS or hospital app?
No. It is an independent SubaByte product for informal on-call coordination. Keep mandated clinical or operational work on your organisation’s approved systems.
When will NightOwl be on the App Store?
We are preparing the App Store release. Follow the NightOwl Responders page or email us to register interest.
